BBQ May 2019

Cook up a feast this summer.

Especially once you’ve stocked up on glasses & coolers, trolleys, picnic blankets and sauces at Homesense. To get you all set before firing up that grill, here are a few delicious BBQ recipes to try out…

Turkey, courgetti and feta burgers

What you’ll need…

500g turkey mince, 100g feta, 1 courgette, ½ pack of mint leaves, juice of 1 lemon, 1 egg, 1 tsp of olive oil and ½ tsp of chilli flakes.

Mix everything together (minus the olive oil) in a bowl, season with a little salt and pepper, then shape into four delicious burgers. Pop them in the fridge for 15 minutes, then brush your burgers with a little olive oil and wack ‘em on the grill. Serve up on some of our colourful patterned plates, then fill a couple of our beautiful bowls with sour cream and a side salad – delish!

Fish tacos

Be sure to grab…

500g white fish (in 3cm cubes), juice of 1 lime, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp garlic salt, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1 tsp sugar, soft tortillas, shredded white cabbage, one of our fiery hot sauces.

Mix the fish, lime juice, honey and olive oil – then cover and leave in the fridge for 30 minutes. In another bowl, mix together the spices and sugar with a pinch of salt. Put your fish on to skewers, dust in the spices mix and pop them on the BBQ for 2-3 mins on each side. Serve with salsa, sour cream, cabbage – and pick up some of our hot sauces to give them a little kick!

Beetroot and halloumi salad

Can’t do without…

1 red onion (thinly sliced), 2 tbsp cider vinegar, 2 oranges, rocket, 2 cooked beetroots (chopped), a pack of halloumi, 80g pomegranate seeds, a handful of mint leaves.

Slice your halloumi and pop it on the BBQ until golden brown on both sides. Whilst that’s sizzling away, grab a pair of our salad spoons and one of our big, beautiful salad bowls. Then pile up your rocket on to a plate, along with the beetroot, orange segments, halloumi, pomegranate seeds and onions. Top with a drizzling of vinegar and a few sprigs of mint, and voila!
