As holders of the Carbon Trust standard, last year we reduced our Carbon Footprint by over 15% and we’re on track to reduce it by 30%* by 2020. Globally we achieve a leading rating from global carbon benchmark, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

We have a zero waste to landfill target. All waste from stores and operations is sent to be recycled. 91% of this is diverted from landfill and we’re working on the rest.
We’ve introduced LED lighting in all new and remodelled stores and our processing centres. This delivers 65% more efficiency and reduces our energy consumption in each store by 42% and our processing centres by 45%.
With our logistics partners we look to maximize the utilization of our vehicles to help manage delivery routes more efficiently, offering driver education and investing in technologies like vehicle tracking.
We’re investing in two innovative projects to reduce single use plastic waste:
A pilot project to clean up half the Pacific garbage patch by 2025.
An innovative pilot project that turns plastic waste into income for Pacific island communities.
We identified a list of the biggest contributors to ocean waste plastic and removed them from all of our stores and offices, including plastic drink bottles, single use carrier bags, straws, plastic cups and non-biodegradable wipes.
To help our customers reduce their carrier bag usage, we offer a variety of bags for life. The price of these includes a donation to Enable Ireland.
