Enable Ireland

Our aim is to help children and young people achieve their potential in our local communities, focusing on those facing challenges with health, education and poverty. We do this by partnering with local and national charities.

Enable Ireland

Since 1997, together with our customers, we’ve raised over €5.1 million for Enable Ireland, which has supported over 32,000 children with disabilities across Ireland.

Funds raised go to projects directly benefiting children and young people with disabilities around the country, including purpose-built service centres, transport services and specialist equipment and assistive technology.

Look out for opportunities to support in store throughout the year, like donating at the till, picking up a charity bag for life or shopping our charity range, where at least 30% of the sale price will be donated to Enable Ireland.

Louis’ story

Seven year old Louis attends Enable Ireland’s Children’s Disability Network Team in Wicklow. When he was nearly two, his mum Kerri grew concerned that he wasn’t meeting his walking milestone. Even before his diagnosis, their GP referred them to Enable Ireland, where they found early support and guidance.

A few months later, Louis was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Enable Ireland immediately connected the family with physiotherapy, counselling and social work support, giving Kerri the expert information she needed to help her son thrive.

As Louis grew, the team continued to support him through preschool with occupational therapy, posture development and hydrotherapy. His physiotherapy is ongoing, and he enjoys the home programmes that help build his strength.

Today, Louis is a happy, outgoing boy who loves being active. He plays Gaelic football using his walker, enjoys horse riding, and has recently begun swimming independently and riding a bike with stabilisers.

This year, Louis proudly took part in the TK Maxx campaign photoshoot. Kerri says it meant a lot to him: “He loves seeing other people using frames or wheelchairs in the media because they’re just like him. Being part of the campaign was important so other kids can see that their disability doesn’t have to hold them back.”
